This wonderful card below is by Bernadette Tolley. She chose Oval Bunnies for her gorgeous Easter/Spring card. The perfect embellishments too.... (Posted on Monday, March 15, 2010)

Hi! Welcome to a new week! This week I’ll be taking you on a stroll through the clothing department and sharing cards inspired by Easter dresses! Inspiration can be found every day and every place you look. I often find myself looking at fabric and clothing and dreaming of new card designs. (Please tell me I’m not the only one?)

I was browsing baby girl outfits this past week, and as soon as I laid my eyes on a Daisy Party Dress from babyGap.com, I was inspired to stamp. It’s soft, sunny, and decidedly springy! The allover large scale daisy print instantly made me think of creating a card with a big flower as the main design element. turned to the aptly named Large Flower stamp and decided to stop running from the color yellow. I don’t have anything against the color, I just don’t find myself using it very often for some reason. Spring seems like the perfect time to give it a whirl! The Hero Hues Daffodil papers are a nice buttery yellow, very easy to use. Here I colored the flower with white and yellow colored pencils on kraft paper for a bit of a rustic feel. SCRAP {skrap} noun 1.a small piece or portion; fragment: a scrap of paper.

"leftovers", "smidgen", "snippet", "extra"...however you refer to them, we all have them...SCRAPS!

Big pieces, tiny strips, extra chipboard pieces, little pieces of ribbon...Some of you throw them right out, some of you store them for years or, if you are like me, I re-use them, over and over and over again.

Here is a really easy, quick, not to mention CUTE way to mix and match your scraps to create the perfect gift for a "sweet sixteen" gift, graduation..or gosh, for yourself! Start by covering the front, center and back tab pages of the Teresa Collins 4" x 6" Chipboard Tabbed Covers with the Chic Bebe Girl Leopard patterned paper.

Sand and ink edges to create a shabby look.

I had a leftover scrap "Girl" tag that I adhered to chipboard, trimmed and adhered to the center of the cover. Add 5 small rhinestones to the crown to add the right amount of bling Fill this journal with 4" x 6" scrap pieces of coordinating patterned papers including lined ledger and journal paper.

After binding the journal, create embellishments to hang from your binding using leftover pieces of chipboard elements. Simply punch holes in the pieces, attach together with small jump rings and tie with a small scrap piece of coordinating ribbon. (Posted on Friday, March 12, 2010)

More from Ira Huberts our March Guest Designer!

Ira has made the most amazing book. The detail is this book is jaw dropping fabulous!! Here is what Ira had to say about it:

I wanted to “do something” with the Alice in Wonderland theme all along, and I found that the “Playtimes Past” papers worked wonders for me. I also used scraps of “Fashionista".

I specifically wanted to have the outside look like a book; I even used several famous quotes (book spine, quote is Alice’s) and clock embellishment on the front of the book (quote is Mr. Rabbit’s). I made the flower in the left bottom corner by using my scallop nestabilities (paper is Childs Play) and folding the petals together.

The queen is embossed with the cuttlebug folder Queen of Hearts, I used cardstock which I inked with several colours. The clock embellishment is a Playtimes Past Tag, I worked circular word art around it.

In my view the inside should be somehow like a secret garden. And the main house hides what lies beneath, Alice’s world. Two curious faces are looking outside to see who’s coming to visit them and their secrets. I placed Alice on a teacup and tried to insert several symbols of her Wonderland, but since it’s only a small book I couldn’t put anything else in there anymore. Alice and Mr. Rabbit are coloring pages, I used Derwent coloursoft pencils to color them. (Posted on Friday, March 12, 2010)

We've been getting a lot of sun around here lately and it is making me anxious for summer. Sunshine, warmer temperatures, popsicles, the beach ... ahhhh summer. Our Rusted Sun Glitter Cuts capture all the fun things to love about summer with a touch of sparkle. Check out how our designers used this Spotlight product combined with some Tattered Angels goodness Summertime by Anne Jo Lexander Anne Jo uses the popsicle glitter cut as her tittle for this multi-photo layout about her family's summer activities. And to jazz up her background, she spattered TA Glimmer Mist (jazz blue, graphite and gold) all over with a paintbrush. (Posted on Friday, March 12, 2010)

Veggie Garden

Hello!

It's a gorgeous day in Washington- the sunshine is out and you can feel the cool, crisp air. I'm so excited that Spring is right around the corner! The cherry blossom trees are blooming and you can start to see the daffodils and tulips starting to bloom. However, allergy season is also in full bloom, which has not been pleasant. Thank goodness for allergy medicine!

Yesterday Wendy sent over this adorable bunny card, which I just had to share. Two of my favorite things about Wendy's cards: 1) her work is always immaculate 2) she has such great color combos! For this card, she paired up the popular Bunny Border with the Veggies stamp set and the grass from the Easter stamp set. Did you notice the Orange w/ White Dots polka dot ribbon? Such a happy color that coordinates beautifully with the Desert Orange cardstock. (Posted on Friday, March 12, 2010)

Welcome!

It's getting close to St. Patrick's Day, so I thought I better get a move on my cards. The plaid was the first thing I thought of when I started thinking and of course it had to be all in green. I stamped a light green paper using Vivid green and spring green dye inks.

The "ribbon" was a great deal I found on clearance. It's about 5 to 6 inches wide and shimmers so nice in person. I cut a 7 inch piece of it and then split it down the middle. 2 knots later they were being taped onto the back of my plaid and my background was finished.

I really enjoyed coloring the shamrock hat - it had just enough, but not too much to keep me happy! When I was done coloring I sponged on a little spring green around the edges. The sentiment was stamped on white and then I cut off the last line of the saying, wanting to keep this card a little more serious. A little 2 sided tape and I was patting myself on the back for a job well done :) (Posted on Friday, March 12, 2010)

Shrink Plastic is available!

Remember shrinky-dinks? These were made from shrink plastic. You color the plastic using art stamps, pens, and inks. Then, cut the plastic into a shape and bake it in your oven. When it cooled you would have a mineature version of what you created...thick and solid and with very intense colors.

Shrink Plastic is difficult to find. But we have it here at Comotion. Comotion Shrink plastic is available exclusively at Addicted To. It's a great fun project! (Posted on Thursday, March 11, 2010)

This first stamp is #C140 (A Mother's Love). When my son was a baby, I used to carry him around in one of those sling/pouches and always felt like a mama kangaroo...I guess that was my inspiration for this stamp. (You could also use it for a new baby project). I have a simple pattern for this box that you can download here. Just cut along the solid lines and fold along the dotted lines....mount on a 2" x 3" base...and line the top edge with flowers. (Posted on Thursday, March 11, 2010)

Time to Think Spring!

With all the feet of snow and more still falling as I look out my window, I can't help but turn my thoughts to Spring.. And that is exactly what I am doing with this adorable Easter Card. Love the springy colors and the cute little bunny with a flower in her hair. I used the Creative Charms Easter Kit to make this sweet card. It has everything you need to create cards, gift bags and even picture frames for Spring. The little Easter egg brads are so sweet and pastel flowers reflect the colors of Spring and take my mind away from the dreariness of winter. It even comes with ribbon to add that finishing touch. Don't forget...Think SPRING! (Posted on Thursday, March 11, 2010)

Stickers, Maine, 1 sheet

It is Acadia National Park not ARcadia.

Looking for some nice Maine items but on closer inspection (thanks to the enlargement feature on this site) I saw that the park name is spelled Arcadia when it should be Acadia. How disappointing. (Reviewed by Babs, APO, AE, United States of America on Tuesday, March 16, 2010)

Beautiful Pink, nice large size... but this does contain glitter

Glitter pens

My favorite new cardmaking tool

These pens are wonderful! I used them to color the rainbow on a St. Pat's card, and it looks truly professional. Just the right amount of sparkle with none of the mess you make when using glitter and glue. Since you save a step--not having to color and then glitter--the process is quicker too. Clear Tops Embossing Powder, Ultra Deep Pitch Black

EXTREMEMLY Dissapointed!!

Unlike the other comments and other Clear Tops products, I'm very unhappy with this product. It has the texture of large grains of sand that doesn't stick to the embossed surface. When heated with the embossing gun they blow all over making a huge mess. My advice...pass this one by. (Reviewed by LS, Glen Haven, WI, United States of America on Wednesday, March 10, 2010)
